Specific Labs We Check

At R&R Aesthetics & Wellness, we believe that understanding your health begins with a comprehensive look into your body’s key metrics. That’s why we offer an extensive range of lab checks.

Lab Panel Includes:

  • Complete Blood Count: This gives us valuable information about the quantity of different types of cells in your blood, helping detect conditions like anemia, infections, and many other disorders.
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel: This test helps assess your liver and kidney function, blood sugar levels, and electrolyte balance.
  • Hemoglobin A1C: This measures your average blood sugar over the past 3 months, a crucial indicator of your diabetes control.
  • Extensive Lipid Panel and Apo A/B Ratio: These checks provide a detailed analysis of your cholesterol levels, a critical component in assessing your risk for heart disease.
  • Vitamin D, B12, Folate, Iron, and TIBC: These tests ensure you’re getting the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to function optimally.
  • Ferritin, CRP, Full Thyroid Panel and Thyroid Antibodies, Uric Acid: These checks assist in detecting inflammation and potential autoimmune issues, monitor thyroid function, and measure uric acid levels associated with gout.

Each of these checks contributes to a holistic understanding of your health, and when combined, they provide a comprehensive view of your overall wellness.

Everything Looks Good

What makes this report so special?

Have you been to the doctor, and they tell you “Your labs all look good – there’s nothing wrong.” Case closed. Yet, you don’t feel “all good?”

Normal is Not Optimal

Most people who feel “unwell” will come out “normal” on a blood test. Clinical experience suggests that these people are by no means “normal” and are a far cry from being functionally optimal. They may not yet have progressed to a known disease state, but they are what we call dysfunctional, i.e. their physiological systems are no longer functioning properly, and they are starting to feel unwell.

The issue is not that the blood test is a poor diagnostic tool, far from it. The issue is that the reference ranges used on a traditional lab test are based on statistics, not on whether a certain value represents good health or optimal physiological function. The problem is that “normal” ranges represent “average” populations rather than the optimal level required to maintain good health. Most “normal” reference ranges are too broad to adequately detect health problems before they become pathology and are not useful for detecting the emergence of dysfunction. Many people who feel unwell will have normal results on a blood test. However, clinical experience shows that these individuals are not functioning at their best, even though they may not have a diagnosed illness. This is known as being dysfunctional, meaning their body systems are not working properly and they are starting to feel unwell. The issue is not with the blood test itself, as it is an effective diagnostic tool. However, the reference ranges used in traditional lab tests are based on statistics rather than what is considered healthy or optimal for our bodies. These “normal” ranges are based on average populations, not the ideal level needed for good health. As a result, they may not be able to detect health problems before they become serious and do not help identify dysfunction.

The Functional Approach

The functional approach to blood test analysis focuses on changes in your body’s functions, rather than just identifying diseases. We use optimal ranges based on physiology, not the “normal” population, which allows us to detect any issues in your physiological systems. This helps us understand what may be hindering your body from functioning at its best. One key difference between Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis and the Traditional approach is that we don’t just look at individual biomarkers one at a time. Instead, we examine trends between biomarkers to identify hidden risks towards or away from optimal health.

The Functional Health Report

Our detailed algorithmic analysis of your blood test results produces the Functional Health Report. Our software goes beyond just the numbers, revealing hidden patterns that indicate the early stages of functional changes in your body.

In summary, blood testing is now a crucial part of Functional Medicine. It not only helps manage diseases and injuries but also plays a key role in promoting overall health and preventing diseases.
