Fillers
Dermal fillers are used to reduce signs of aging, fill static lines, enhance volume and rejuvenate overall appearance. We can use them to restore volume in the temples, cheeks, jawline, chin, and lips. It’s a great option for an instant result.
There are three types of fillers used in the US – Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers – Calcium Hydroxylapatite (brand name – Radiesse) – and Poly-l-lactic Acid (brand name Sculptra).

You could think of ha fillers kind of like a jelly (sterile, and much more high tech, of course…) that we place very strategically in certain planes and vectors to create shadows and highlights on your face that create a more youthful appearance. These fillers stay in place typically anywhere from 8-15 months, depending on the product used and where it is placed. They are able to be dissolved by hyaluronidase if needed in an emergency situation, or if an undesired result is achieved.

Radiesse© and Sculptra© are not able to be dissolved. The benefit to using these products, however, is that they are usually longer lasting due to the fact that they stimulate a response that stimulates collagen growth.
When getting a treatment with any dermal filler, it is imperative that you see someone who is trained and experienced in fillers and advanced anatomy. Your face is very vascular and these products are able to insert into these vessels and cause what is called a vascular occlusion. These are rare when you are injected by an experienced and competent injector, and by someone who is prepared to manage these emergencies appropriately.
